Backward Integration – IPM

At Value Ingredients, our backward integration model allows us to maintain complete control over sourcing, quality, traceability and sustainability, ensuring that every spice ingredient we produce meets the highest international standards.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Programmes!

We have a strong backward integration programme with the objective of offering a fully traceable and sustainable ingredients to the global food industry. Our team of qualified agronomists in consultation with some of the premier agricultural research universities in India have developed detailed package of practices for organic spice cultivation as well as spice cultivation using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes.

Key highlights of our backward integration programme are as below:

Organic Spice Programme: We work with more than 150 turmeric/Ginger/Pepper farmers to offer certified organic spices meeting NPOP/NOP/EU organic standards. The products we offer are traceable right upto the farm level using our cloud based sourcing app.

BI Programs

Programme Highlights

8000+ farmers under our contract cultivation programmes
15,000+ Acres under cultivation

Farmers are paid 10–15% more as the produce is collected directly from their farm gates, ensuring fair compensation.

We ensure complete traceability. Each batch can be scanned to identify the exact farmer and farm location it came from
Farmers are paid within seven days of produce collection, ensuring prompt and reliable compensation for their efforts

Farmer Training Programmes

We conduct monthly farmer training programmes focused on improving agricultural practices, increasing yield, reducing pesticide usage, and promoting biological pest control, all delivered in local languages through simple visuals, while also addressing important social issues like alcohol abuse, women empowerment, and the elimination of child labour.

Social Responsibility

We uphold strong social responsibility by ensuring no child labour in any farm operations, paying farmers 5 to 8 percent above market prices, and increasing their profitability through bulk input procurement at discounted rates. Our methods reduce chemical usage by 80 percent compared to conventional chilli farming, while maintaining comparable yields and delivering safer, cleaner food to consumer. (add a suitable picture.

Soil Analysis

Soil analysis is a key element of BI programmes, helping determine nutrient requirements and enabling efficient fertiliser use. It identifies pollutants or growth inhibitors, guiding corrective actions. It supports best management practices such as weeding, irrigation, sowing, and tillage. Additionally, it prevents over-fertilisation and maintains optimal pH for healthy chilli growth.

Biological Control of Pests

BI programmes promote the use of bio and natural pesticides for effective and eco-friendly pest management. Bio-pesticides like HaNPV (250 LE) and Bacillus thuringiensis (200–400 gm/acre) target lepidopteran pests, while Trichoderma is used for seed treatment. Verticillium lecanii helps control sucking pests, and Metarhizium anisopliae is effective against root grubs. Natural alternatives include neem cake, neem oil, NSKE spray (Neem Seed Kernel Extract) at early stages, and tobacco solution. Organic formulations like Jeevamrutham further enhance plant health and resistance, supporting sustainable and residue-free farming.
